 This 2 CD compilation presents another highlight in the Mozart year containing 39 of Mozart's most beautiful arias sung by legendary singers ranging from Maria Callas and Placido Domingo to Natalie Dessay and Angela Gheorghiu, to name but a few.

Mozart was always passionate about the human voice, which he considered one of the most wonderful musical instruments of all. A child prodigy, he was writing sacred music at the age of ten, and completed his first opera two years later. Singers, both male (castrati included) and female, counted among his friends and played a prominent part in his career, and he wrote the best and most expansive of his religious, operatic and concert works for those he particularly admired and whose vocal timbre and technique he understood perfectly.
